چکیده

The performance of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system with multiple-symbol differential detection (MSDD) is analyzed over both timeand frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. The optimal decision metrics of timedomain MSDD (TD-MSDD) and frequency-domain MSDD (FD-MSDD) are derived by calculating the exact covariance matrix under the assumption that the guard time is longer than the delay spread, thus causing no effective intersymbol interference (ISI). Since the complexity of calculating the exact covariance matrix turns out to be substantial for FD-MSDD, we also develop a suboptimal metric based on the simplified covariance matrix. The comparative analysis between TD-MSDD and FD-MSDD suggests that the most significant improvement is achieved by the FD-MSDD with the optimal metric and a large symbol observation interval, since the time selectiveness of the channel has a dominant effect on the bit error rate of the OFDM system.

Evaluation Performance of OFDM Mutlicarrier Modulation over Rayleigh and RicianStandard Channels Using WPT-OFDM Modulations

Last years, Wavelet Packet Modulation (WPM) or Wavelet Packet Transform based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (WPT-OFDM) have been introduced to wired and wireless communication fields as efficient Multicarrier Modulation (MCM) techniques. The wavelets have interesting features such as flexibility, compatibility and localization in both time and frequency domains with no need to use ...

Proposed Pilot Pattern Methods for Improvement DVB-T System Performance

Recently, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been extensively used in communications systems to resist channel impairments in frequency selective channels. OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technology in wireless environment that use a large number of orthogonal subcarriers to transmit information. OFDM is one of the most important blocks in digital video broadcast-terrestr...

Orthogonal frequency division multiplex synchronization techniques for frequency-selective fading channels

The effect of time-domain and frequency-domain synchronization errors is quantified in the context of various coherently and noncoherently detected 1, 2, and 4 bits/symbol OFDM constellations, in order to demonstrate the wide applicability of the techniques proposed for mitigating the bit error rate (BER) performance degradations inflicted. A reference symbol is proposed and a range of correlat...

Theoretical analysis and performance of OFDM signals in nonlinear fading channels

This paper presents an analytical framework to calculate the average symbol-error rate (SER) of uncoded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in realistic scenarios impaired by transmitter nonlinearity and frequency-selective fading channels. The results are applicable to cyclically extended OFDM signals characterized by a high number of carriers, which can be modeled as com...
